More Politics and My Opinions

Posted by: vw bug   in Mom, politics

Since I have decided to expand my little blog to include some controversy, here goes some big time opinions of mine. You are welcome to make comments that are different than my own if you make it friendly. I will ban you if you get nasty.

Things that bother me about Obama that I’m not sure the average person knows…

1. He suggests a $75 billion plan for the economy would offer a $500 tax rebate to families and $250 Social Security supplement to seniors. Put more money into unemployment insurance and more federal money to States hardest hit by the housing crisis.

Is this what I think should be done? No. I believe this is not for the federal government to handle it. Nor do I believe that money should be given to us… we paid our taxes to pay off our debt… now use it to pay it off. Quit giving money away and pay off our debt. Not to say… if given money I won’t use it to pay off my personal debt… but I still think it is the wrong way to work this one.

2. He wants universal health care… such that the he will repeal the ban that prevents the government from negotiating with drug companies, all employers have to contribute toward health coverage for their employees or toward the cost of a public plan, hospitals have to switch to more cost-effective, computerized record keeping system.

Exactly who is going to foot the bill for this? Why is the government getting involved? If you are going to make broad statements, you might forget the employer that only has 15 employees and is just getting started… the employees may NOT want their employer to contribute to health care yet, they may get it elsewhere… and the hospitals are expensive enough already to have to change their systems to a government mandate system? Ugh. I have a friend from Europe and thinks we have a great Medical system compared to what she has to deal with over there. It sucks. Has anyone talked to the people that have to use the system in Europe? Why would we want to go that track when it sucks?

And the list goes on… I am also frustrated with McCain. At a later date I will write up some of those items. Not right now. This is long and boring enough. I just don’t know what is the right way to turn this election. Now I am looking at the Vice President selection. Much more research needs to go there before I feel able to voice an opinion. Yet, I still prefer to have McCain’s wife as the presidential option than McCain. Sigh. This is going to be a long four years coming our way.

Update: HERE is a link with another opinion.

Yep, Cindy McCain rocks!

From what I understand, Germany is looking into switching to a medical system more like ours. Imagine that! If I wanted to live in a socialist country, I’d move to one. I really don’t want ours to turn into one.

And in case you haven’t read, those tax rebates are going to families that barely or don’t pay taxes.

Weath redistribuion.

I think Obambi puts a top limit of income at $45K, anything other that and he considers that family rich.

And Canadas socialist health plan creator nows thinks the system stinks and wants to go to a US health plan type.

Mostly of what Obama wants to do is tax those who have worked hard to get into a position where they are earning a good wage. Those professional types who earn 200 grand a year or more he wants to hit hard. What he and his socialist cronies can’t get through their heads is that it is these wage earners who buy the big ticket items that provide a lot of jobs..boats and motors, the second and third family cars, the second homes, vacations to Florida…when I was in business I depended on the high wage earners (most niche businesses do) because Joe Lunch Box just doesn’t have the bucks to buy a custom built fishing rod and a 300 dollar fishing reel.

The government found out when they added the high luxury tax to items such a large boats that it was a losing proposition..the people that had the money simply bought and registered the boats off shore..and a lot of American boat builders went out of business…putting a lot of people on unemployment
