Some days I need my head examined more closely. Tater gave a speech today on a book he read. I was proud of him. I didn’t realize that the teacher was going to take the written notes he used to make his speech… so no copy of that for you. Maybe I’ll get it back next week and then I’ll post it! The book he read was “20,000 Baseball Cards under the Sea“. He had to give a short report on it and then either dress up from something in the book or have a food goodie or both. A friend of my Hubby lives in Phillie… you can’t really see the Phillies shirt that Tater is wearing but he has it on… and he passed out Oreo cookies… since they were round like baseballs (and his favorite cookie).
Here is a picture of him while he is giving his speech (click to enlarge) :
Here it is after the speech, holding up baseball cards, book and a sample oreo pack:
Unknown to me, Dad said he could pass out the cards. Tater told me he could trade the cards. I couldn’t figure out what was going on and we ended up bringing them back home. Oops. Such is life.
What I don’t have pictures of is the Slime we made. After the speeches, they had their Halloween party. They painted pumpkins, made popcorn hands, tried to guess what was in some jars, decorated cookies and made slime. I volunteered to help the kids make slime. They loved it. I loved it. I only had 3 to 5 kids at a shot and they were fairly well behaved. Yep, I can handle that. I got the recipe HERE (and it is called Gak). I was not totally prepared and had to wing it some, but it worked out great. Other than the long trip to the cafeteria to get hot water. Didn’t think about the fact that there was a sink nearby but they didn’t have hot water to it. Still… that is a great way to make slime and fun.
Today is Tot’s party. And they are suppose to have a parade. I can’t wait. The kids are allowed to wear non-scary costumes to school… and there will be parties and a parade and tons of fun. I’m looking forward to it!
