Well, maybe they do in other houses, but not in mine. Then again if I didn’t let them eat in the living room or the dining room, this wouldn’t be a problem. The question is what is the best way to handle carpet cleaning with two boys around? There are quite a few companies willing to come out and clean for you. Most I am sure are reasonable. We used professionals when we moved from our house. It made the house look much better than what I did on my own. I tried to follow the industry standards of getting your carpets cleaned… what are the standards I followed? 1. Vacuum up all the stuff, 2. Spot clean, 3. Steam Clean, 4. Let it dry BEFORE walking on it again. The industry of course does much better…
I did noticed ads lately having the professionals with more steps. That is why they do a better job. There is the ‘preconditioning of the carpet’, the moving of stuff off the carpet and back on after it is dry… I’m lucky to keep the kids off of it long enough for it to dry.
I like the smell and how clean the carpet is after a professional has cleaned it. I like how it has that new carpet feel to it. In fact I got a call today from the one I used before… I don’t have the money now as I am saving for Christmas, but I told them to call me after the holidays. More likely to need them and have the money.
What do you think? Do you use a professional cleaner? What do you like about them or not? When do you use them… before everyone comes over or after they have left?
Oh boy – I have never done a professional cleaning. Maybe I should put that on the list…
I had a professional cleaner and he did a GREAT job. With three boys… they wreaked havoc.
Then we pulled it all up and put down wood and tile. It is a good choice for boys…
I’ve had professionals that did a great job and ones who I will never, ever call again. The carpet looked worse when they left. The next step is to rip it all out and put in wood or tile throughout the house. I hate carpet.
Our current house came with diningroom carpet. Who in their right mind puts carpet in a diningroom? People who don’t have children.
The husband and I went out the week we moved in a bought a steam cleaner.
We use it a lot.
Not only do children drop a lot of food and spill a lot of juice, they also vomit.
I’ve never hired a pro.
The last apartment we lived in hired professionals to clean the carpets before they’d let us move in. It was amazing how not one carpet edge was clean. It was like the whole apartment was outlined in grime.
Ick.
