Been up all night. Tot has had real severe asthma issues the last couple of days. Scary kind. Call the Pulmonologist at 10:30pm kind. Why? Because you do NOT want to go to the ER here unless it is life threatening. The ER here that I would go to is for kids. And every hospital in the area sends any kids with problems to that ER… and every mom without insurance goes to this hospital… the wait, even when having pretty severe problems, can be hours. The shootings and stuff come first.
I’m rambling because I haven’t had sleep. I am fighting off that breast infection with little to no sleep and worrying and stressing. My son was doing the most shallow breathing I have ever seen. He was breathing. His heart was racing. He was breathing. He had color to his skin… but it was heartbreaking to watch. My hubby was to nebulize Tot and let me sleep until 1am so I could get 4 hours sleep in… and he woke me up at 10pm worried about our son. I got one hour sleep. It’s going to be a long day. Luckily I have an appointment with the pulmonologist at 8:45am this morning.
Goodness, hope this gets straightened out soon!
Poor Tot and poor Mom! Hope he rounds the corner and you can get some sleep soon.
Two of the grandkids have asthma and they’ve had some pretty scary episodes; I know how horrible it can be to watch your child struggle to breathe and feel helpless.

Yikes, that doesn’t sound good. Hope the little guy gets better and you get your sleep!
Added to the prayer list. Hope they can come up with a solution for you, any idea of the triggers for it?
Actually it was triggered from the sleep over… fragrances set him off (as well as change in temp and flu/cold). The boy who slept over had his stuff all washed in some very fragrant detergent and softener. I noticed it but didn’t put it all together soon enough. He started having a reaction on Saturday afternoon, but it didn’t seem that serious. Live and learn.
Hey, bonus for me, I use no fragrances on anything, so once I am better, I can smooch all over your little man and he won’t be allergic to me!
Seriously… Palms West. Been there… great with kids. Did the 911 call with them. Actually, the first time I had to call 911 and the guys showed up as Ringo wasn’t breathing well and there was no color, and O2 was low, they INSISTED we go to PW. *I* am the one who insisted they go to shot-gun hell. When we showed up they said, “Next time, you listen to us…” and I did.
I also think that the hospital close to you, let’s call it planet Mars hospital, takes kids. I’d go there in a heartbeat… think about it.
