I’m going to need it. I will be at the Elementary school all day… first for my youngest to help make slime. Then for my oldest for a ‘mind’ game. Hopefully we all hold up ok. I feel like I’m catching my son’s cold. Runny nose. Stuff head. Ugh. Just got to make it through Saturday night. I can do this!
Remember a post a couple of days ago about me wanting to be a bookkeeper. I had linked to a site I saw. One of things I liked about it was the following:
Jesuit universities are renowned for their academic rigor. Being true to the internal integrity of an academic subject is necessary to mold graduates that can effectively confront challenges.
Our students don’t just memorize material, instead they reach a personal understanding. Our graduates are able to discuss the subject matter in depth; write and speak with excellence; and, engage in public debate on the issues that matter.
Very few schools are willing to say something like that. Much less something like:
Many of the top ranked programs are reluctant to go online because they feel that this diminishes the quality of the education. Gonzaga finds the exact opposite, because it allows experienced professionals the opportunity for an advanced educations, who may otherwise not be able to because of professional or personal commitments.
It is nice to see a school who is ranked 3rd by the US News for Master Universities in the West say they think that you can get quality education online. While I do believe at some point it is nice to have a face to face with someone, I do not think it completely necessary. For some of my technical certifications, online was perfect.
I thought it odd that they have a Master’s in organizational leadership. Then I read it. Very cool. If I was considering getting an Online master degree, I must say I would check out this college again. If they took the time to put that much information out on their website about their classes… I think it would be worth an effort to check them out just to see if their teachers and online are just as interesting. Too bad they don’t offer bookkeeping!
May the best Military force win… which of course will be the Air Force!
They have a cool widget to show how everyone is doing… except I can’t get the code to work on my post. Sigh… so CLICK HERE TO DONATE.
Never heard of Valour-IT… I’ll pirate some of their text so you can see what it is all about…
Project Valour-IT helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Items supplied include:

# Wii Video Game Systems – Whole-body game systems increase motivation and speed recovery when used under the guidance of physical therapists in therapy sessions (donated only to medical facilities).
# Personal GPS – Handheld GPS devices build self-confidence and independence by compensating for short-term memory loss and organizational challenges related to severe TBI and severe PTSD.
Now if I have your attention…CLICK HERE TO DONATE. If you want more information on how you and your blog can participate… CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE about this wonderful opportunity. There are going to be auctions and a lot of trash talk. It will be worth your time. And even $2 can make a difference.
They even have an FAQ that explains how it is tax deductible, how you can donate via other options than on-line, even why we have a competition between the branches of service.
You’ll be hearing more from me as time goes on… while some are not asking for money, but asking you to listen (Like THIS POST), I am asking you to donate. If not your money, then your time and effort to support our troops. A letter, a care package… Particularly now around the holidays when it can be lonely… Just help.
I have been looking at getting certified in bookkeeping. We could use a little extra money. I even looked at Online master degrees. I can’t afford the online master degrees but I thought I might try something else. Tink suggested I go to the local college. In fact, they have an online program to get a bookkeeping certification. I can’t afford it either and it is cheap compared to getting my masters.
For those who don’t know… I have a BS in ‘System Science’… it is a computer / engineering degree… I had to take Numerical Analysis, Heat Transfer / Fluid Flow and stuff like that along with my computer classes. Yes, I considered getting my Business Masters and going that route for a job. Definitely toooo expensive and there are no jobs in my area that fit that bill anymore. Sad but true. Need money to make money … hate that phrase but it is very true. I’ll find something when the time is right. But if you hear of anything, send me an email!
If the banks are so friendly, how come they chain down the pens?
My girlfriend’s father used to work in a bank. But no matter how much the boss likes you, if you work in a bank you can’t bring home samples.

If you would know the value of money, go and try to borrow some.

Money can’t buy friends, but you can get a better class of enemy.

Money won’t buy happiness, but it will pay the salaries of a large research staff to study the problem.

What this country needs is a bank where you deposit a toaster and they give you $250.00.
A banker is a guy who charges you high interest to borrow someone else’s money.
Banks are really pushing savings accounts. A bandit robbed a bank of $2000.00 the other day and the teller tried to talk him into opening into an IRA.
I went golfing with my banker, but never again. Every time I yelled FORE he yelled CLOSURE.
Ok, enough with the money jokes… just where my brain is this week.
Ok, I didn’t find out what it was… but Pamibe sent me to THIS COOL WEBSITE. It has 1 minute and 5 minute youtube lessons. Very awesome. I have learned some neat stuff from it. I wanted it on my site so I could find it again… now what to put out here for when I’m searching… sky, astronomy, stars, planets… yaa that should do it.
After all that fussing, one of the things I’m adding into our budget is some more orlando vacations. My in-laws live over there and if we go to visit we like to see Disney. We have passes to it, so it makes it easier. But to make me feel better, I try to get over there as much as I can to use them. Got to get more than my money’s worth! They have a special right now for passholders to get 40% off the Disney hotels in that time frame. That makes them within reason. I just wish I had more money. It would be nice to stay longer. Even a short trip will be nice. Had to book now since our spring break is at that same time. I was surprised at how full it already was!
How do ya’ll handle vacations? Particularly when you have kids in school? I hate to pull my kids out of school, but it is hard to get good prices around breaks that our schools have. I’ll take all hints!
I was working on my budget yesterday. Ugh. I sooo don’t budget everything we spend money on and definitely didn’t get the right amount for school. They are nickling and diming me to death. $5 for this trip, $2 for this project, and the list goes on and on and on… I also heard from my dentist that I have a cavity under a 15 year old crown. Yaa… you can see where that is going. I wish I had dental discounts for the amount of money I spend at the dentist. Yes, we do have dental insurance, but it never covers enough. Unless I wanted to go to the bottom of the class dentist that charges next to nothing. Not going to do that … thank. you. very. much.
I hate spending hours on end, trying to work this out. I think I have it together and the following month I see I’m WRONG. I think my family just needs to quit everything. Wait… we don’t go out to eat already and we don’t go see movies at the theater… yaa… it’s the trips to Disney you say. But I budget those in and have the money. It’s the little things that get me. It is amazing how quickly they add up. I may have to just make us pay cash for everything for two months. Oh don’t get me wrong. We aren’t in debt (yet) and I’m just fussing… but it really annoys me how far off I can be when I don’t work on the budget every f’in week. I took three weeks off and now I’m OFF. Ugh. Part of my job as a stay at home mom… figure this stuff out and keep us on track. Let me go work on it some more. It annoyed me so much yesterday I took a break. Might be pulling my hair out soon!
Ok, for those of you who live in south Florida… what is that planet up in the sky this morning in the eastern direction? There was also a star in the southern direction… it was really bright as well… what was that one? Any ideas?
It was hubby’s birthday yesterday… so we bought him another Wii game… of course we bought one the boys have been asking for recently. They were so excited. It was cute. Don’t get me wrong, hubby played for hours with them. I played for at least 2 hours. All four of us could play. It was enjoyed by all.
Not only that, we had some friends come over Saturday for dinner and the Auburn game. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. The men fussed, complained about past quarter backs that were as bad, and generally made the game much more enjoyable. I talked to the wife… seems they just got a new puppy. Brave. I asked if they used pet beds or crates. That was when I discovered two things. Their old dog died already and they put the new one in a crate. I knew the old dog and was sorry it was gone. Reminded me of Happy. But loved hearing the stories of the new one. I am thinking I don’t want a young puppy after hearing about midnight runs for potty breaks. Yaa… I get up enough as it is. Don’t need that as well.
Busy week with Halloween parties, yearbook meetings and just a general catch up with life. Enjoy!
