My work is never done

Wow. My husband went to work and I am home with the kids. I have been doing laundry, helping with homework, running them to Martial Arts, working with the dog, helping the kids work with the dog, doing bills and more. I see why people start doing drugs or alcohol. I ‘do’ tea and chocolate. Those are my downfalls… when I’m stressed, I can eat them without being hungry. Sadly they don’t have drug rehab treatment centers for chocoholics… Actually what I need is a center for learning better self-control when stressed. I have been trying to change the way I eat and have done… ok. But some weeks are much harder than others. Particularly when I’m tired. Ahhh… we all have something. Life is still good… I have a roof, an education, a job and a wonderful family (well most of the time). Yep, life is still good.

Lighting the driveway

Every so often we walk the dog at night and go down a particular road that has lighting down the driveway. It makes me crazy. Why? Because one of the lights blink. And it varies. No rhyme or reason. Ugh. I think my neighbor needs to go get some fx luminaire landscape path lights that last longer and won’t randomly blink. I certainly would appreciate it. Then again, it might not bother the neighbor… I remember as I kid I loved some christmas lights that blinked randomly. I look back now and wonder why I loved it so much. Just how life changes as we evolve… the question is which way are we evolving?

Stress – in my life?

I have been going through bouts of the blues because I have been stressed about losing my job. They want someone full time and I am not ready for that yet. My boys are still in elementary school. Understand, I work because I can and I need the mental stimulation. Still, when I went through my divorce 15 years ago, I was doing Tai Chi and yoga and it cut down on my stress greatly. I am wondering if I should go get a yoga blanket… I saw this site http://www.yogaaccessories.com yoga blanket had some. Get one and then start going outside and learn to stretch and meditate again. Between the para-menopausal and the stress… I need something.

Memories…

I was looking through a dog catalog and it reminded me of making catalogs for a company called Tab Sales Company. (It is no longer in business.) I used word and had to print it out carefully, then take it to the printers. They had to print it on 11 x 17 and the cover was ‘in color’! We had a special stapler and I had to stable them all. Ugh. Now you can do catalog printing online. Which is nice to know if I ever decide to run a business again… while that was not my business, I actually owned my own business for two years. And yes, I made catalog’s. The hard way. Some things certainly get easier with technology age at this point.

Rain Rain Rain

It is now rainy season in South Florida. It is also the time you want to have a car cover on your car to keep it from getting to be 110F inside it… Ugh… I have used car covers before, though I had never seen waterproof car covers. I also had a smaller car back then. I’m not going to get a cover for my station wagon… even if it is a small version of a station wagon. I have my old windshield shades… but they don’t quite fit. Guess I’m going to have to break down and get some new ones. Sucks because I have had those shades for over 12 years. Yes, I keep stuff until I can’t use it anymore. And if it doesn’t fit and is difficult to get to use, it is time to replace. Anyone know where is the best place to get cheap windshield shades?

Where did the money go?

What a year. The doctor appointments, the kids, life. It makes me want to get an accountant to take care of all my bills. In fact, one that is far away might be nice. I saw there are some raleigh accountants. I happen to like Raleigh and it would give me an excuse to go there. Vacation time! What better way to save money and have fun at the same time. Ok Ok, I won’t be doing that anytime soon. A mom can dream!

What a 9-year-old considers collectable

Seems that lego is putting out only 5000 Mr. Gold minifigs. At which point my youngest son wanted to buy one. Had to have one. Then with the help of mom and dad he discovered they were randomly placed in series 10 of the minifigure bags. AND it was world wide. He got really upset. Hence I suggested he look into coin collecting. Or gold and silver collecting. I had seen this site moderncoinwholesale.com for silver bullion.

I was just about to suggest searching the web for other types of items when Dad chimed in and said check ebay for Mr. Gold. D’oh. So I looked. He was there, the bidding was up to $350 and it was in Russia. That made him really sad again. Luckily, the next morning he was ok with it. He decided there are a lot of countries in this world and if every one of them got a bag with Mr. Gold, there would only be one or two in the USA and chances are he wouldn’t be able to get it anyways. Phew.

Now if he could set his mine on inventing something with old tires…

What’s next in music?

My youngest is still asking about guitars. Though I have noticed he plays the piano a lot and the trumpet less. And never stops complaining when his brother plays drums. Which is too bad… it causes a lot of fights and restriction from electronics. His brother plays drums quite well. If he would just stop and listen. Instead he would rather try to wear me down to get him a guitar. What is a guitar without extra stuff to go with it? Like a roland ev-5 at guitar center. Oh wait, that may be fairly inexpensive but you have to buy a something to go with it… like a synthesizer. I just hope this is a passing fad… but if you look back at my old posts you will see this has been a topic for quite a while.

Week at home with the boys

It is Easter Break or Spring Break (though spring is hiding well)… and the boys are busy… fighting, playing together, fighting, arguing with mom, playing music, playing together… The nicest part is the music. Yes, it needs work but I almost think about getting more instruments. I even looked at music instruments for sale… thinking about getting me a clarinet. Yes, I played the clarinet for years. But I borrowed mine. I had to give it back. And… that was the end of my clarinet career. Still, it makes me want to add more noise to the family. I could really make them cringe with the squeak the clarinet can make. It would make for some fun at the holidays. Learning music together. They actually sound good together… not sure I could catch up fast enough. They have been playing for over a year and a half. I may be able to read music but it takes practice to get decent at it. And I hardly have the time to clean house. Sigh… maybe another time.

The Cleaning Begins

Ok, it is time. I need to buy about 100 plastic storage bins for the kids. To divide up the toys. And clean up my living room. As much as I clean and give/throw away… we collect more. I have yet to figure out how I collect so much stuff. I don’t say junk because it is things we use or occasionally use… and that is what makes it soooo difficult. It would be easier if I had enough money to buy bins to store it in. As it is, it is just all over the place. The best part… is we have a Scout Garage sale coming up… and I’m going to donate anything I can find to get rid of in this house. Phew. Wish us luck!
