On Saturday we went to our first karate tournament. It started with the youngest… in the forms. My youngest decided to do the hardest form he knew and had ONLY just learned a couple of weeks ago. I was happy when he got second… out of 11 other kids… some of higher belts! Here take a look!
Next was sparring. Sigh… I forgot to feed the youngest who has hypoglycemia. Yaa, you know where this is going don’t you. Here he is getting ready to spar:
He placed 4th out of 7. He had a complete meltdown. It took me over 30 minutes to figure out what was the problem. Ugh. I was too wrapped up in the tournament and all our friends who were in it. Live and learn. I’m sure he will do better next time.
Now for the oldest. His division was next. He had forms first. In the 7 to 10 year old group. He placed 4th out of 11. Here he is introducing himself:
He also sparred. He placed 2nd out of 10. Here he is with his 2nd place medal!
Yep, the boys loved it. Even the youngest said he wanted to do it again. And he promised not to have ‘a meltdown’. Yaa. He’ll need help on that one. The oldest was a GREAT sport. Congratulating everyone. I’m very proud of both kids! And the dojo! Everyone from our dojo got a trophy or medal (trophy was 1st, medal for 2nd and 3rd). What a great Saturday!
What an easter! We had a blast. The kids are riding bikes without training wheels and we can now bike easily as a family. I love biking. When we got home, the youngest went for the chocolate bunny finally. The conversation went something like this as he looked at the wrapper:
Tot: Mom, would you open this for me?
Mom: Sure.
Tot: Hey look it’s solid!
Mom: *blink*
Tot: Not a liquid or a gas! **outbreak of laughter**
Mom: *blink* *giggle giggle*
We have succeeded in getting the Karate Spar Equipment for the boys. Heck, I woke up the other morning and they had put it on over their pajamas. This was the first day we got it:

Yes, yes… I know it is a ‘Hallmark Holiday’ and I don’t care. It is fun making cards with the kids and giving extra hugs… and then there is the comments they make that are so unexpected. Sorta like my youngest at Karate yesterday. Sensei M starts the questioning with my youngest child…
Sensei M: YoungOne, who is the most important person in your life?
YoungOne (Tot): Mom… **slight pause here** because she is the oldest in our family
Total outbreak of laughter from all the parents. Yaa, he just had to ask my youngest first. The rest of the kids behaved and just said Mom or Mom and Dad… Stinker… Good thing he is so cute! It will be a valentine to remember. Though Sensei M was great in that he told the kids, which are all boys right now, to let their mom’s sleep in and give them a kiss after they woke up. Gotta love our dojo!
Ok, not really. I know why I don’t need sleeping pills. Because the moment I get a chance, I will sleep for 24 hours straight without them. Sigh. Youngest is sick… was having asthma issues which opened him up to some other bug. Shoot me now. 9pm at night and I had my hubby run a tepid bath for the bugger. The whole Elementary school is coughing and hacking. Sucks to be young and living here right now. Just hope my oldest holds out a little longer. Just hope I hold out a little bit longer. Got my hopes up for the little guy since they are having a valentine’s party on Friday. Amazing how they can bounce back when something fun is in the future. Ok, off to give blood and hopefully get something to eat soon. I hate fasting…

I asked him to do some ‘GQ’ modeling for me after that… he certainly won’t need any bodybuilding supplements as he gets older… take a look at these muscles!

I have to say… I think my youngest must have a good sense of humor to pose for mom. Hard to believe he is only six. Sigh… where did those years go?
I might need to look at more home insurance quotes if i keep letting my kids work in the yard. But isn’t he a cutie?

The man with the truck is a friend of mine. He has a yard business and came over to cut some limbs and help get the yard cleaned up. The kids wanted to earn some extra money… win win situation. Of course being boys, they did want to pick up the little limbs… ohhhh noooo…
It was a great time by all this weekend. Just taking me a while to get all the photos and stuff together. I have such good kids. It makes me wonder how they can drive me over the edge so fast! 
Here is my Kindergarten boy… I love his story about his birthday. The interpretation is below it:
This is my sixth birthday. I ate donuts. It was good. It was at school. I went to Disney before specials.
The 1 x 11 – 10 is really 1/11/10 (the date it was written). One step at a time. Both boys are really growing up. What am I going to do when they hit their teen years and I can’t be mushy over this stuff???
Lots been going on, but mostly it has been me working on a yearbook for the kids’ school. Hence, not a lot on stuff to post out here. Though I have been looking at what my children eat. We are cutting back on the sweets (had way to much over the christmas break)… and I’m letting them have hamburgers for breakfast. I thought chicken nuggets with waffles smelled bad… making hamburgers at 5:45am is enough to make me want to barf. Ugh.
Hope everyone is staying warm and will try to get my brain into gear for the rest of the week!
Seems that the holiday season has struck our house… literally. The boys are striking one another. I had to set up some rules. Do something nice and you get a nice point. Point out that your brother did something nice and you both get nice points. Tattle on your brother (with no blood or marks involved) and you both get naughty points. Mom has to discipline you, you get two naughty points. At the end of the day, Santa gets called with an update.
Today we actually had more nice points than naughty points. But I was VERY lenient with them. Three more days seem VERY long … good thing I made that fudge yesterday.
