Controlled Chaos

Last night was controlled chaos. Over 180, closer to 200, cub scouts in one room with siblings and parents. Yaa… controlled chaos. I have to say our cub master rocks. He did a great job. He only fussed at me once. But hey, it’s my job to get him moving! He wanted to talk to some buddies and I wanted to get the meeting started. I won. And once he got it going… he really handled it well. Was very positive, was very into the whole great experience for the boys.

I think a lot of the men really got involved. I am thinking a few drinks and hoyo de monterrey cigars might be a decent way to celebrate for them. I was so happy to see them step up and help out with the tug of war, the relay races and more. Ya ya ya, so I’m a woman involved in scouts. But so is my husband. He does so much with the kids at home to help them earn their stuff and he supports me working as the committee chair and a den leader. I think boys need to see the men involved. Now is the time for the fathers to be a big part of their lives. Seriously… between the ages of 6 and 12 is the best time. The boys are able to communicate, able to do sports and are not interested in girls yet.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings as my wolf and webelos 1 boys work their way through the books. It ought to be fun!

Late on Tuesday

It has been a long four days. First the youngest got a stomach bug… for 48 hours. Then the oldest got it. Of course his was on Monday at 3am and lasted til Tuesday. The only days I have off to do ‘my stuff’. It is impossible to clean with a child around. “Let’s play pokemon.” “Do I have to do my school work?” “Mom, I got some pee on the floor where you just cleaned, but I wiped it up”. That last one. Yaa. I almost busted a vein in my forehead. I know it. Trying to remain calm.

Then I saw a commercial of little babies. You know the kind. It makes you think of dads handing out don pepin cigars and the perfect looking moms with smiles on their faces. Yaa. I looked at my son and that commercial and almost busted another vein. This is why people don’t warn you about children. They only tell you the good stuff. That way the next person can be suckered into this.

I had to laugh after a while. I looked at my oldest and told him he was the luckiest kid and that I loved him. He had no clue. Amazing how it works. Though something must have made it through because a little while later he said thanks when I did something for him. Definitely not a normal thing. Made me feel better. What a good kid he really has turned out to be. I just hope he stays as sweet. Life can be hard.

Stress 101

one week. one week… until I have sinus surgery. Seems unreal. Only two days until Thanksgiving. I must be insane to try and fit all of this in. But I have had 4 different doctors tell me this will help me heal. I need it. God willing, I will survive the surgery to tell you more funny stories of what happens. Supposedly along with getting the bone spur in there, they will straighten my nose too… cool beans. Two for one. Wonder if it would help me lose weight as well? though, I must say that posting it will be light next week. Maybe I should pass out some cigars and treats to keep you busy while I’m gone? Oh wait… that is for births… is giving up a bone spur a birth? :-) Never dull around here… never dull.
