Pokemon Drives Me Nuts

February 23, 2012

Got my sister hooked on Pokemon… now I am trying to help her get all the types. Problem is that some of them are on different games and trying to get them to the higher games is… Not easy. In fact, my boys have allowed me to play their games to catch the ones she is missing… but one little problem. They never made their pokemon very strong nor did they go fight people to get money. So I can’t buy many pokemon balls NOR fight the really strong pokemon to catch them. Argh. I need a new hobby.

Pokemon

It’s back… The boys are playing an old TV game of it. Pokemon Champion Island. What amazes me is how little I remember of the old pokemon. I have to really pull the information out of my brain to remember is it grass or poison or both… Why? Because we play it together as a family and they ask questions that require you to know that information. Being a type-A, ADD, overly competitive mother… of course I have to get mine right. Then again, showing them how to be accepting when you get it wrong helps as well. Though, that hasn’t rubbed off on them yet… sigh… boys…

Pokemon Rules

Ok, my kids still play Pokemon on their DS… but mom and dad are hooked. We play it a lot more than they do! I love the Pokemon DS games. I have the White version. I’m so into it when I get some down time. Which is about 15 minutes on any given day. Sigh. I so want to build up my National Pokedex…. and battle the elite 4 again… but it all takes time. Lots and lots of time. Also, they have ‘seasons’ in this one… so I’m counting the days til May to see what spring will be like in the game. Do any of you have this problem?

Unprepared

Wow, I feel so unprepared today. I had my day planned… which included running to get a free Chick-fil-a biscuit this morning and then BLAM… my husband throws a curve ball at me. Seems that Gamestop is offering some ‘pokemon’ characters for free. Which is something my boys would LOVE to get. And not conducive to my getting Chick-fil-a… sigh. Yaa, there is a Gamestop near the Chick-fil-a but it won’t open til much later in the morning. I want to be home before 10am if possible. Guess Pokemon win this round. The kids will be excited and I love to play pokemon as well. Of all the silly things…

Story Time

My oldest has to write a story using his vocabulary words… so my youngest wanted to write a story as well… Since the youngest story is shorter… his is first. We start with Who, What, When, Where and the solution… then he came up with this story!

One day, me and my Feraligatr went to the tall grass. When I was in the tall grass a trainer was going to battle me. He battled me. I used my Feraligatr and it has the strongest moves. Crunch, watergun, surf and ice fang. I used all those moves on one of his pokemon. My pokemon was so strong it knocked all pokemon and one of his. When I knocked all of his pokemon, he gave me money. It was in the morning after I ate breakfast and that is when it happened.

Now here is the one from the oldest and it is LONG… I will bold the vocabulary words for you so you can see why it is the way it is.

In the beginning I started out with Cyndaquil, I mostly ran from every Pokémon. My Pokémon was a low level and had to escape from other Pokémon. One time I fled because mostly all my Pokémon were knocked out. I shuddered because it was the scariest Pokémon I had ever seen. It was called Spirit Tomb. I was so scared I almost fell out of the chair I was sitting in. Then I remembered Spirit Tomb is not the scariest. The scariest one of all is Typhlosion. It is a very scary Pokémon. I exchanged 50 Pokémon dollars for a firestone. The firestone evolves Quilava to Typhlosion. When it evolved it looked like a gigantic fireball. I screamed. I mean I didn’t really scream but I just felt like I was going to faint. Next time when I see Spirit Tomb my Typhlosion will beat it up because I guarantee this. He knows the moves called hyper beam and lava plume and flame thrower. When my Typhlosion does one of these moves it can knock a Pokémon out. For Spirit Tomb it took all three moves I told you about a little while ago to knock it out. I used them all separately. It was awesome. I thought he would get 780 experience points. Usually when I battle other things he gets a 1000. This one gave Typhlosion extra experience points for every move it did so it actually gave Typhlosion 2300 experience points. I was so excited. I love my game. But there was a problem, my Typhlosion became deaf because I didn’t have enough gym badges. I only had seven but he was a level 80 and that was a problem. His body was also numb. I thought he was going to be sick so I read the newspaper to see what was happening. They used lead-type letters to make the newspaper. After I was trained enough and I battled the gym leader I got an image on a ball with me and my Pokémon because there was a photographer there that took pictures for you. After the pictures my Typhlosion was healed. I get to see it whenever I want when I enter the gym. It was so fun to play that game.

Never a dull moment in our household!

My Boys are Stars

From mamaw’s costumes we made a movie. It was hard to make the boys understand not to move to far when I took pictures. This is made from my camera and multiple photos in a row. (click on it and be taken to Picasa… click to see the movie).

I hope this turns out for you. It was me trying to teach the kids how some things are made in the movies. It is not all ‘real’ but step by step stuff. I tried to make a ‘lego scene’ with them and that didn’t work. This was better and they got a kick out of it. When they were in bed, I made another lego scene. I think they are catching on finally. Now to draw pictures on paper and see how it works. I’m afraid that every notebook, post-it and the like will become mini-movies though… like at Bou‘s house. I was worried when she told me every time she got a post-it, she also got part of a bloody stick figure scene. Ahh… boys.

My mom, Mamaw, made the boys Pikachu costumes. She did not buy a pattern for it, she came up with it on her own. Well, the tail, hat and all… she used a pattern for the body… but I can’t remember if it was a lion costume or a pajama pattern. Still pretty frick’n awesome! Oh… I got most of the pictures of Tot…

Mamaw Learns Pokemon Again

June 23, 2009

Remember back in Jan of 2008? No, me neither… but I have a post that shows Mamaw played Pokemon with Tater back then…

And had to learn it all over again this trip. Here is Tater explaining which cards he picked out for her deck. ( psst… notice the chair covers while you are at it. She was done by this time. ) Tater was very careful about which ones she was to use. As if she didn’t get enough Pokemon having to play the Pokemon Champion Island DVD game with him for a couple of days… now the real card game.
